 Details of the next instalment in the hugely successful Pro Evolution football franchise from Konami have been announced. The firm has given the next game a brand new name, ditching the expected Pro Evolution Soccer 7 in favour of the more FIFA-like Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. Among the new features will be a full editing suite and Teamvision, a brand new AI programme allowing the computer to adapt to a gamer's individual style of play. This, according to Konami, means that if a player repeatedly races down the left wing, for example, the game will learn this and plan its counter attack. On-the-ball dribble moves will also be increased, set-pieces reworked with the inclusion of a defensive wall and - as expected - the graphics have allegedly been given an overhaul. “We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next," producer Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka said. "With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution.  Emergency 4 boasts a rich mix of gripping real-time strategy game and true-to-life simulation. The player becomes head of operations in a fictional rescue and catastrophe management organisation, in command of a number of vehicles and staff from the fire department, medical rescue, police and technical services. For the first time in the history of the Emergency series, all campaign missions are embedded into one continuous game set in a real town with a sheer infinite number of side-operations and tasks, so linking the various missions together. The player has to manage money as well as setting the right pre-requisites for upcoming missions. The player has to react to a variety of events, developing dynamically 24/7, set against a background of continuous day/night changes and constantly varying weather conditions. Another new feature are the spectacular overseas operations in the Antarctic and the near East, which present the player with completely new challenges. The sheer number and rich variety of the game’s 20 missions represent a new standard for this genre. The scenes range from medical emergencies to road accidents and large-scale fires, and culminate in earthquakes and floods. Whether the job involves rescuing casualties, fighting fires or preventing and resolving acts of terror, or introducing the right emergency processes in a catastrophe (with the help of the virtual supervisor of course) the "Save Lives!" motto is always foremost in the player’s mind.
